At BKB we view learning as an integral part of growing competitive advantage, our people. We recognise that when employees grow, they in turn grow our business.
Our annual investment in training and development stands at 1% of payroll expenditure.
We have a range of training that is offered to our employees. From leadership development, supervisory training, various soft skills training, retail training, technical training, compliance training and agriculture courses.
During the period 2022 - 2023 there were more than 1500 beneficiaries of training interventions. There have been 68 of our employees who have benefitted from our study assistance bursary programme to further their part-time tertiary studies.

Learnerships from business administration, business practice, leadership and management, merchandising, wholesale and distribution, production technology, agri-retail, and animal production.
On a annual basis, we focus on disabled learnership and since 2015 we have placed 73 disabled learners, many of them gain practical experience of sorting wool and mohair.
Interns per Year
BKB plays an integral role in the industry in assisting students who require experiential learning in the workplace based on the theory studies they are currently completing or have completed. Duration for a minimum of one year.

At BKB, we are very aware that our competitive advantage lies in our people. How we lead our people and manage our processes determines our success. This program is intended to support our leaders and to secure this advantage.
We have a learner management system (LMS) called Stride that our employees can access via an online platform to do accredited and non-accredited courses relevant to their work.
Our online induction allows ease of access for our new employees before their first day. They are welcomed to the organisation and provided information on the company. Our new employees can work through the content at their own pace.
