On the second sale of the 2019 summer selling season, the mohair market rose 1.8% to close at R283.90/kg. This price increase was largely due to the weaker Rand. Buyers competed actively for the smaller than usual offering of which a clearance percentage of 92.1% was reached. Only the strong adult category traded slightly cheaper, mainly due to a quiet market in the East.
The average market indicator of kid mohair increased by 7.5% to close on R494.53/kg while the average market indicator of young goat mohair closed 3.2% dearer at R364.56/kg. The average price of fine adult mohair increased with 3.7% to close at R288.86/kg while the average market indicator of strong adult mohair closed 1.6% cheaper on R263.15/kg.
