The 2019 winter season kicked off in Port Elizabeth with 76 908 kilograms on offer. The first sale on a season is always mixed and difficult to quote. The average market indicator compared to the corresponding sale of the 2018 winter season closed 12.5% cheaper trading at R247.42/kg.

The average market indicator of kid mohair increased with 15.0% to close at R413.46/kg while the average market indicator of young goat mohair declined with 4.8% to close at R296.80/kg. The average market indicator of fine adult mohair decreased with 15.0% to close at R246.43/kg. Due to most of the strong adults being declared “not sold” by the brokers, it cannot be quoted.
The next sale of the 2019 winter season will take place on 3 September 2019.
