Mohair Market Report – 10 December 2020
COMMENTS
There was good competition among the buyers with the RMS lots selling at an average premium of between 5 and 7%. The RMS certification of our clients is making a significant difference and it’s definitely a positive change in the mohair industry. The Top 20 Kid lots tested, on average, 25.8 micron and achieved an average price of R522.00/kg. The top 20 young goat lots tested, on average, 28.6 micron and sold at R312.00. Fine Kids performed well and traded 4.0% higher in comparison to the previous sale. Fine young goat performed as well, and it traded 1.0% dearer. Finer adult mohair traded 2.0% higher, but the star of the day was the stronger mohair market that sold for 6.0% more than on the previous sale. The average market indicator was 3.0% dearer and traded at R252.34/kg.
