The recent relationship between wool price and GDP

On the 26th wool auction of the 2018/2019 season, the merino wool market indicator decreased with -3,3% to close on 21442c per kg clean.

Average clean wool price indicators for good quality long fleece wool (MF4/MF5) with a tenstile strength of 35 (NKT) were as follows:

18 µ      23787  (-3,0%)                         21 µ      21602   (-3,1%)

19 µ     23299  (-3,2%)                         22 µ     21376   (-2,4%)

20 µ     22532  (-3,6%)                         23 µ     17514   (-2,7%)

The main buyers on the sale were: Standard Wool (1,750 bales), G Modiano (1,566 bales), Lempriere South Africa (1,034 bales).
Of the 6,087 bales offered 5,684 bales were declared sold (93%).
