The mohair market yielded positive results on the fifth sale of the 2018 summer season in spite of the difficult
circumstances currently prevailing in the industry. Mohair prices of young goats and adults performed well while
kid mohair remained unchanged on R398.01/kg. The offering consisted of good quality mohair with a sales clearance
of 98.9%. The Rand weakened by 4.7% against the American Dollar and traded at R12.54.
The average market indicator gained 3.9% from the previous sale to close at R279.78/kg. The average prices of
summer young goat mohair increased with 4.4% to close at R318.61/kg. Fine adult mohair traded 4.0% dearer on
R288.12/kg and strong adult mohair traded 5.0% dearer to close at R275.41/kg.
The next sale of the 2018 summer season will take place on 22 May 2018.
